Ethical, sustainable materials

In doing so, we are reducing our impact on the planet, and ensuring that our paints are harder-wearing and more resistant to challenging environmental conditions. We're even making sure that leftover materials can be reused or repurposed for social projects, and our full portfolio is produced respecting human rights and in a healthy and safe production environment.

Promoting a hygienic environment

As part of our vision for a better, greener world, we’re creating products with minimal VOCs, such as water-based wall and trim products. We’ve also introduced low-emission products with very low levels of solvents for indoor paints. By doing this, we're dramatically reducing the negative impact of these products both in production and use.

Better places to live and work

It’s not only about the formulations of our products. Green building certification

There are several different green building certifications available. Here’s a round-up of the certifications and how our products can help you to earn green building points.

 
 

1. GBCSA

The Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) is one of 75 members of the World Green Building Council alongside Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom. Founded in 2007, GBCSA are a dedicated team working in collaboration with industry bodies, leaders, government departments and professionals to develop market-based green building solutions for the transformation of the South African property industry.

We are a member based organisation whose core focus is green building certification and training. We advocate for all buildings to be designed, built and operated in an environmentally sustainable manner.

2. LEED

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a rating system that provides a framework for efficient and cost saving green buildings that create a healthy environment. LEED credits are achieved by earning points for Indoor Environmental Quality, requiring paints to meet VOC content and emissions limits. Points are also available for products with EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations).
Paint plays a role in the following LEED sections:
I. LEED section: Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ)
Low-Emitting Materials requires paints to meet specific limits for VOC content. This section also requires paints to meet the limits of VOC emissions, proven by certifications listed in the standard.
II. LEED section: Materials & Resources (MR)
Credits are available for products with Environmental Product Declarations; third-party certified declarations showcasing the product’s environmental performance.

Dulux Trade 65 Matt is a good quality paint with a matt finish for interior and exterior walls and ceilings.

Corrocote 3 Metal Primer


An excellent water-based primer for galvanised iron & mild steel. This anti-corrosive primer with excellent adhesion is Low VOC, quick drying and abrasion resistant. It provides a good base for top coating.

 

 






Suitable for interior walls & ceilings, Sterishield Diamond Eggshell is a quick drying, water-based paint that actively inhibits and reduces bacterial growth, promoting a hygienic environment.

Dulux Trade Eggshell Enamel


A tough and durable paint with an attractive mid-sheen finish that is low odour and quick drying. With superior stain resistance this product is suitable for interior use in kitchen & bathrooms. Repeatable wipeable eggshell finish.

Dulux Trade Ecosure Matt is a premium paint that has a positive sustainability impact. Formulated for interior walls and ceilings, Ecosure Matt provides excellent coverage and application, whilst maintaining the highest possible standards of quality and performance.

Dulux Trade Ecosure Plaster Primer


A premium low VOC water-based plaster primer with excellent adhesion & sealing properties. Suitable for interior & exterior use on masonry surfaces, Ecosure Plaster Primer has good alkali resistance, seals porous plaster and provides a sound surface for top coating.

 

 





Dulux Trade Sterishield


A quick drying, water-based paint which actively inhibits and reduces bacterial growth, promoting a hygienic environment. Suitable for interior walls & ceilings.

Dulux Trade Tuffcote Epoxy Enamel


A premium water-based zero VOC epoxy enamel for interior use in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Chemical resistant finish coat on steel and concrete surfaces in chemical plants, oil refineries and other steel structures. This product withstands nuclear radiation and is easily decontaminated.
