For the second year in a row, Dulux Trade were proud to be one of the main sponsors of the Green Building Conference 2009. The event was held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on the 7 and the 8th of July 2009, and was geared towards professionals seeking to gain valuable and applicable insights from a select group of local and international speakers.
Xavier Rijmenans, Head of Dulux Trade marketing, was one of these speakers and presented an interesting talk on Indoor Environmental Quality, focused on what Dulux as a paint manufacturer can do to improve air quality and health by reducing VOC levels in paint, improving usage of day light by increasing light reflection and improving comfort for visually impaired people through the clever use of colour.
Also at the Green Building Conference, Dulux Trade launched three of its latest products to the Trade market: Dulux Trade Ecosure, Dulux Trade Weathershield and Dulux Trade Sterishield.
Rijmenans highlighted that the Dulux Trade Ecosure range provides high quality, long lasting finishes with excellent application characteristics and colour choice. Dulux Trade Ecosure has high opacity and coverage, which allows complete coverage in two coats on a well prepared surface and reduced VOC content of less than 16g/L, which helps reduce low level ozone and photochemical smog. The water-based product is available in over 1 200 colours, and silk and matt finishes. “We don’t compromise on quality in delivering sustainability,” explained Rijmenans.
Dulux Trade Weathershield, on the other hand, is a product suitable for exteriors and has a 40% extra spreading rate, superior flexibility and requires no primer, thus saving on time, money and labour. Dulux Trade Weathershield is available in 84 popular colours and is resistant to fading.
Dulux Trade Sterishield – a hygiene paint, which targets areas where sterility is key, such as hospitals and restaurants, actively inhibits bacteria with its silver based nano-technology bactericide combined with the durable and washable nature of the paint.
Last year saw them launch Dulux Trade Light & Space and the Dulux Trade Environmental wash system. Light & Space reflects up to twice the amount of light normal paint would, making rooms look and feel more spacious and saving up to 20% on lighting costs. The Environmental wash system aims at providing contractors with an easier way to clean-up painting tools.
